If you are considering a trip to Charlottesville, you have to stay at The Foxfield Inn! Mary Pat and John are two of the nicest individuals you will ever meet. You will enjoy their gracious hospitality and you can rest assured they will go out of their way to make sure your every need (and desire ) is met. Their immaculate Inn is truly a home away from home! The rooms beautifully decorated and are so welcoming, right down to the fresh flowers. Mary Pat is a fabulous cook and she'll even share her recipes (love the Strawberry Bread!). We are already looking forward to our next stay at the Foxfield Inn! "Fantastic Foxfield Inn Stay" We came to the Inn through our son's recommendation after his stay several years ago upon his move to Virginia. Thinking that we would enjoy the change of pace from the bustle in California, he recommended the Foxfield Inn. What a treasure to find in the midst of nature's beauty. Kinder hosts you could not find than Mary Pat and John. We didn't want to leave. We were welcomed and treated like family, and fed like royalty. "Great Place!" This place definitely lived up to the pictures! It is absolutely beautiful and every little detail was well thought out. Loved the bathrooms - very spacious. I loved having the two-person Jacuzzi tub, too. The food was great and so was the hospitality. Couldn't pick a better place. "Loved it the second time around" -- We enjoyed our stay so much in 2004 that we just had to go back. Mary Pat is a wonderful cook who doesn't mind sharing her secrets! John was so helpful in directing us to places to visit. Foxfield was as comfortable as home, but with no chores!! The other guests were delightful also - guess they know quality too! Pastoral Pampering with a Plus ++++ The Foxfield Inn is definitely a 'destination' for any traveler to the Charlottesville area. The operative word here is 'Gracious'. The inn is set on a hill in the middle of horse country, yet minutes from Rte 29 and downtown Charlottesville. It's only a few minutes to Monticello and the other historic homes.
The public rooms are as inviting as the guestrooms, with piano, fireplace, etc. The feeling of peace and welcome is cultivated by Mary Pat and John, who seem to have anticipated every need of a vacationer. "The Best of the Best!" There is just one word to describe this B&B: Excellent! We stayed in the large, bright, immaculately clean Audubon Room. The birdfeeder outside our bow window was constantly aflutter with goldfinches. The bathroom was enormous, with a double jacuzzi and, like our room, impeccably clean. The rest of the inn was very welcoming and spacious, and included a butler's pantry, which was always stocked with homemade cookies, hot drinks, bottled water and popcorn. We enjoyed relaxing in the screened tea house in the garden, after a full day of sightseeing. Foxfield Inn is very conveniently located near shopping districts, restaurants, historic sites and the U of VA. We were treated to wonderful, diverse breakfasts each day with special attention paid to our dietary restrictions. But it is the innkeepers, John and Mary Pat, who truly make the Foxfield Inn the Best of the Best! They made us feel so welcome. We felt so comfortable returning to the inn each night and it was obvious, by all the extras, that they enjoy being innkeepers. "Our visit to the Foxfield Inn was outstanding" My husband and I spent two wonderful nights at the Foxfield Inn and loved it! We stayed in the Audubon room and it was very luxurious, spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. Every attention had been given to decorating the Inn tastefully with an eye for the comfort of the guests. Our bathroom had plenty of light and counterspace, plus a large jacuzzi and separate shower. It was very quiet and we were never bothered by noise from outside our room. The snack area in the hall was also nice and we enjoyed the early morning availability of coffee.
